There’s something so special about the golden hour here on the land. Just as the sun begins to sink behind the treetops, everything glows like it’s lit from within. Shadows stretch long, the air softens, and the land, still untamed and waiting, feels full of promise.
Most evenings, my husband and I walk down to the edge of the property, to the place where we can see it all. The garden beds we haven’t built yet. The shelter for animals still in our imagination. The paths we’ve only dreamed of paving. We pause there, sometimes hand in hand, sometimes carrying tools or lists, and we talk.
We talk about what this place will be.
We talk about Jacob, our inspiration, and the young adults like him who will one day laugh, work, and thrive here. We talk about raised garden beds overflowing with vegetables, chickens pecking in the yard, and crafters painting in the sunshine. We talk about it all like it’s already here…because in our hearts, it is.
These sunset walks are our time to dream. To step away from the endless to-dos and the weight of paperwork and preparation. In those moments, we don’t see what’s unfinished, we see what’s coming.
We see hope, glowing like the sky.
We know we’re still in the early stages. The land needs more clearing. The infrastructure isn’t built. The farmers we long to welcome are not here yet. But this is where vision is born, in the quiet, in the golden hours, in the deep belief that something better is possible.
At Harvesting Hope Acres, we are planting a future rooted in dignity, inclusion, and opportunity for individuals with disabilities. Every conversation, every step we take together, is part of that planting.
So if you’re dreaming something big, too…something the world doesn’t see yet, then know this: even before it’s visible, it can be real. You don’t have to see the harvest to start planting seeds.
And you’re always welcome to walk with us on the land or in spirit as we keep dreaming under these sunsets, full of hope.
With vision and gratitude,
Allison Hill
